adapted from Eugen Makovschi The confirmation of the biostructural theory by the high - voltage electron microscopy Communication presented at the Academy of the Socialist Republic of Romania ( session of the Biochemistry Commission held on October 12, 1981 by EUGEN MACOVSCHI ( pronunciation : Makovscki ) The contemporary molecular outlook, agreed with by the highest majority of research people, takes the living organism as being built up from an unique form of matter, namely the chemical combinations occurring in the common molecular state. This molecular outlook also regards the chemical events in the living organisms as being rigorously coordinated, so that their whole assembly forms the metabolism. The metabolism is generally assumed as being the support of life, and it regulate the biological phenomena, by means of the coordinative actions of molecules. The coordination of the chemical phenomena is ceased concurrently with death, so that the metabolism is not acting any longer, the biological phenomena cease to take place, and the random chemical phenomena lead to the degradation of the dead organism The molecular outlook asserts that life is a feature depending on metabolism, i.e. phenomena, and not on matter, whereas the chemistry shows that the feature belong to the matter, and not to the phenomena. On the other hand,
the above mentioned outlook makes no precise statement on: I have tried to find an answer to these questions, and since 1930 I have started research in fields as the excitability of neuromuscular system, the permeability of living and artificial membranes, the biochemical reactions in coacervates, e.a. After 25 years of work in these fields, I have reached the conclusion that the molecular outlook is not able to offer the right answers to the above mentioned questions, for the main reason it does not reflect the biological specificity of the organisms. That claimed the elaboration of a new outlook.
