There will be a lot of things made to remind of these major events: the total solar eclipse and Meteor shower The Perseids. Mainly as the greatest point is located in Romania. We can not made a full list. We have just selected some of them, those that the value is reliable

STAMPS

The Romanian Post has a great tradition on marking important events. The first Romanian stamps well know round the world "Cap de Bour" are very valuable. It is but natural that the solar eclipse is one major event. And when the Greatest Point is in Romania is more important. The Romania Post just done their job without much noise thanks to the work of Edipost - manager Mr. Aurelian DIRNU to whom we have to pay a special thanks.

	June 13 1961 there were printed two stamps with the text "Eclipsa totala de soare" Designer: the late Mr. I. Dumitrana) - one of the best Romanian designers, heliograme, white paper, philigram XVII, one of 1.60 lei color intense blue, the other of 1.75 lei color dark blue. 3 million species have been printed of each. The first stamp shows one of the phases of the eclipse in the sky behind the Palace Hall in Bucharest (the new construction built by communist during Gheorghiu Dej - a title of pride for the new system). The other one shows the sky with stars and in front the dome of an observatory. Unfortunately no more available. Just to search to collections.
	December 17 1998: there was printed a stamp with the text "Eclipsa totala de soare". Designer N. Nobilescu. The stamp shows a map of Romania with the path of totality and the totally eclipsed sun: the moon covering the solar disk. Attached is a label with the design of the eclipse: the sun, the moon and the earth with the text "TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE 1999 AUGUST 11. The value is 1'100 lei.

	The special envelope has a design of the eclipse: the sun, the moon and the earth with the text ECLIPSA TOTALA DE SOARE - 11 AUGUST 1999 - FIRST DAY COVER and a special postmark.
	A special postcard shows a design of the eclipse: the sun, the moon and the earth on which the continents are visible as well as the shadows of the partial and total eclipse indicated by signs and the words " Eclipsa partiala" and "Eclipsa totala" Also the words "Soare", "Luna" and "Pamant" indicate the sun, the moon and the earth. On the other side is the logo of EDIPOST, the place to put the stamp and to write the address as well as the text that says: Printed by Fabrica de timbre - Bucuresti, based on a design of Arthur Tintu An other special postcard shows a design of the moment of the totality eclipse. On the other side is the same text except de name of the designer
	1999: The stamp printed this year shows the Earth on European side and the moment of the totality in the sky. It is written " ECLIPSA TOTALA DE SOARE - Romania 11 august 1999. On the label it is shown the map of Romania with the totality band and the words: ROMANIA 11 august 1999. Designer Octavian Preda.
	The envelop has a design of the eclipse on European side with the text ECLIPSA TOTALA DE SOARE - ROMANIA 11 AUGUST 1999 - FIRST DAY COVER June 21 1999 and the special postmark June 21 1999
	A special stamp would be made on the occasion of Pavarotti concert in Bucharest on August 11 on evening. It will shows Pavarotti face, the Parliament House and the moment of the totality behind the Parliament House ( built by Ceausescu - the third building in the world ). Information as soos as available.
	18 postcards were made for different towns of Romania with similar design.
	A special postcard is dedicated to The Greatest Point. It shows the Dachien Well from Ocnele Mari, located in the archeological site of ancient citadel Buridava: the water, the life's support but also the fragile equilibrium of last year of the millennium. On the back a special statement was printed and signed by the Lord Major of Ocnele Mari - the Greatest Point who will celebrate his birthday on August 11! The Major House's stamp will be put only for those who will be present in Ocnele Mari on eclipse's day. There are two special postmarks for the Greatest Point with special logo each. A 200 lei stamp is on the back to fill the value to the official rate.
	A particular postcard is a message of a 14 years old child from the town Turnu Severin who wrote about his vision on the total solar eclipse.
	A postcard shows the local legend that says that the "varcolac" (the cousin of Dracula) eat the Moon.

	1985: a set of 9 stamps were printed in Romania about Goofy (Donald) as shown in cartoons. 1986 an other set of 9 stamps was printed with the same subject. All together 2.500 sold in Romania and 4.000 for the orderer. They were ordered by an American. He did the same in several countries and with all sets made an album about Goofy. He sold some and had a great success. But the subject was the cartoon character and his stories. It seem that one of the the was story inspirited by " A Yankee at King Arthur' s court" and handle about an eclipse which save the hero ( The Yankee - Goofy ). The text " I am going into a eclipse " - an English version of the Romanian text - can be take also as "eclipsed". Any way, the two sets costed 14 lei, that was near 1 USD. Now on the collectioners' market in Romania the two full sets can be hardly found at 240 - 250 USD: this is a valuable "eclipse". A maximaphilia with Goofy is also available only 150 pieces for 7 USD/set ( postcard + 1985 stamp + August 11 1999 postmark ) Payment and delivery see below
